Living the Dream

Wednesday, august 5th, 2026Now that the house is pretty much settled -
the garage is still a mess, I still haven’t gotten my papers in order, I’ve yet to commit to ordering a chair for the living room, only one of the windows in the house has shades and “shade” seems like a generous term for something so sheer, I need to mow the lawn
- I have been picking different projects to tackle.
I made zucchini bread from my neighbor’s garden. I cut the mats for some posters. I ordered a new calendar frame that’s sturdy enough to hold a large piece of glass.
I got a new filing cabinet and got rid of the other one the same day. I ordered hanging racks and pink files and multicolored folders, and it’s gonna look so cute!!
I reached out to a yachting company for a recommendation for a UV coating for the fish. I went to a fishery store off the island and ended up with something better that can be painted on with a brush rather than sprayed.
I bought two platform dollies and some wood to raise the filing cabinet off the garage floor. I measured the outside of the house to make sure the fish will fit in some orientation. I tried my hand at book shelf curation and did ok.
I gave Willow a much needed hair cut after two mornings in a row that didn’t start off well. It only took me three hours. I’ve concluded that Willow is probably allergic to chicken.
I put brass casters on the legs of my gateleg table. I bought a WD-40 pen in hopes of reducing the squeaking.
I figured out where to put the dining chair at the table so it doesn’t interfere with the rug. I rearranged the lamp and cookbooks in the kitchen corner so I can still hide the cord.
I’m on day four of tracking my spending. I’m on day two of tracking my food. I returned some stuff to IKEA that I decided I wasn’t going to use.
I watered my plants. The flowers that I cut from my front yard, two days before my birthday, are still looking surprisingly good.
I took Willow to a block party and she enjoyed the people and the kids. I met new people at the party and they liked my secret ingredient fruit dip.
I was quadruple booked last night. I was double booked tonight. I have plans tomorrow.
I think this is a life.
