Grit and Bear It

Monday, October 5th, 2026In the last 10 days, I’ve recouped nearly $200 in monthly spending, generated more than $300 in additional funds - through returns and sales of personal goods - and removed $100 in future fees for things I don’t use.
I received the first shared water bill and an incorrectly assigned electrical bill which helps me to better estimate my monthly expenses. Once I do that, I can see how much more I need to cut. This feels like a decent start.
Those are the strides I’ve made financially.
Here is where I’ve fumbled:
I can’t have zucchini in my life.
I baked another loaf of bread and ate nearly all of it in a self sabotaging attempt at giving myself diabetes. I then reminded myself that having diabetes will make my life significantly more expensive, not to mention difficult.
Due to all the sugar snax, my brain has been incredibly scattered and prone to getting sucked into the stupidest news articles and phone games. FOR HOURS. I’m not even going to tell you which ones because they’re sooo stupid. I don’t think I could stomach knowing someone else knew what my sugar-addled brain feeds upon.
I need a hard reset off sugar. Bring on the egg fast…
My physical therapist told me it was time to go back to the gym, so I did - At least four times last week. It’s helped. Noticeably. Both with my sugar cravings and my concentration. However, I pushed it too hard in PT last Friday and now my glutes and quads on my left side are so sore that going down stairs is a challenge.
I appreciate the soreness, but I don’t need another excuse to stay idle. I think I’ll go to the gym tonight just to walk on the treadmill.
Going to the gym isn’t a fumble. Not having done much else on the list other than mentally add to it is. It’s the opposite of progress. And if I don’t get stuff written down soon, I’m going to forget and that’s not good.
I feel like I’m juggling and I’m doing very, very little to relieve that anxiety, which is making it worse.
It’s very clear that I’m the problem.
Even when I do attempt to do something on the list, my priorities are not in the right spots. While I love the idea of figuring out how to clean my house a little bit at a time throughout the week, that shouldn’t take precedence over doing research and choosing bank accounts for the HOA.
I feel paralyzed and no one is going to force me to move, so I need to force myself.
Find the one thing on the list that causes the most anxiety. DO THAT FIRST.
This is the whole reason I started Griticism - personal accountability through gritted teeth.
Grit and bear it, baby! We’re coming full circle!
Stay Gritty
